In 2022, our team at Hangzhou Junting Luminescence Technology Co., Ltd. completed the installation of a new hybrid lighting system in Renmin Park in Cangnan County, Wenzhou, Zhejiang Province. This project is an important milestone for us as it brings together years of research, development, and field testing in luminescent materials and solar lighting technology. By integrating solar luminous lamps with our long-afterglow photoluminescent gravel we created a lighting solution that is highly efficient, visually appealing, environmentally friendly, and well suited for modern outdoor environments.
From the beginning our goal was not only to offer a lighting product, but to demonstrate what future landscape lighting can be. Cities and public spaces today demand solutions that are energy saving, durable, and capable of improving the user experience. The Renmin Park project reflects this philosophy in every aspect. The system collects solar energy during the day and converts it into stable lighting at night. At the same time, the emitted light charges the photoluminescent gravel around it, allowing the ground surface to continue glowing naturally even when the lamp output decreases later in the night. This dual lighting concept improves energy efficiency, strengthens lighting continuity, and provides a more reassuring and enjoyable nighttime environment for visitors.
Our solar luminous lamps use a closed loop energy design that stores power generated throughout the day and releases it in a controlled and efficient manner. Excess energy is not wasted and can be regulated through our internal system to maintain optimal performance. When the lamps illuminate the gravel, the material absorbs the light and releases it slowly over time. This combination of active and passive lighting means that even a simple walkway in the park takes on a new character after sunset. Instead of relying on conventional floodlights or electrical infrastructure, the ground itself becomes a soft ambient lighting source that blends into the surrounding natural scenery.
From a design perspective this solution breaks away from traditional thinking in landscape illumination. Most lighting installations focus solely on functional output. Our intention, however, is to provide lighting that serves two purposes at the same time. Visitors should feel safer and more comfortable walking through the area at night, but they should also have a visually enjoyable experience. The glow gravel resembles scattered stars across the pathway, offering a romantic and calming atmosphere that creates emotional resonance. Lighting is no longer only a tool. It becomes part of the visual narrative of a park, one that connects nature, technology, and human space.
Another major strength of this system is resilience. Because the lighting is distributed across individual lamps and extensible gravel a single point of failure does not compromise the overall illumination of the area. Even if one solar lamp requires maintenance, the photoluminescent gravel continues to provide visible guidance for pedestrians. This greatly increases reliability in public environments where stable lighting is essential. At the same time, the system does not require external cabling or electrical trenching. This simplifies installation and allows it to be deployed rapidly and cleanly in outdoor areas, waterfront paths, scenic routes, botanical gardens, and similar locations.
Maintenance has also proven to be extremely manageable. Once installed, the solar lamps operate with minimal intervention, and the photoluminescent gravel is resistant to temperature changes, rain, humidity, and daily outdoor exposure. The materials have long-term stability, making the system suitable for municipalities and property managers seeking lower service costs and reduced energy consumption over time. We believe that long-term operational performance is one of the key indicators of a successful lighting system and the results in Renmin Park continue to validate that belief.
Public response has been overwhelmingly positive. Residents and tourists have praised the installation for its practicality and for the warm and peaceful visual experience it creates. Visitors often remark that walking along the softly glowing pathways feels both relaxing and memorable. The design not only supports the demands of modern green infrastructure but does so in a way that people immediately understand and appreciate. Instead of hidden technology or abstract efficiency metrics, the benefits of sustainable lighting are visible directly under one’s feet.
For us at Junting, this project represents the core values behind our product development. We focus on combining practical utility with artistic and emotional value. Lighting should serve people, not only by making spaces visible but by improving how they feel in those spaces. The Renmin Park installation has shown that when renewable energy systems work hand in hand with advanced photoluminescent materials, landscape lighting can become quieter, softer, more beautiful, and more environmentally responsible.
We see this project as a blueprint for the next stage of public lighting development. Communities are seeking ways to improve urban environments without increasing energy burden or maintenance costs. As cities modernize, solutions like this hybrid outdoor lighting system can help create more human-centered public spaces that encourage outdoor activity, strengthen emotional engagement, and reduce environmental impact.
Renmin Park has become a valuable demonstration site for this concept, and we look forward to applying the same technology in other cities and provinces in China as well as in international markets. As a company dedicated to the advancement of photoluminescent materials and applications, we remain committed to engineering products that contribute to the quality of urban life while supporting global sustainability goals.
